Antenna testing is wicked important.

It is the only sure way to find out how well an antenna design actually performs in the real world. These tests are also highly useful for objectively comparing different antenna designs. Because field testing integrates all factors that impact range, the product is tested as a whole which includes the software, enclosure, and other hardware as well. Test examples include; Before-After, With-Without, A versus B versus C, etc..)

Performed over flat, level ground without any nearby obstructions, radio Range Scans answer the “how far” question that everyone asks.

Non-conductive test tripod set at 1 meter height as prescribed by FCC standards.

Calibrated test antennae for 450MHz, 915MHz, and 2.45GHz shown.

Mobile Computer System

Radio signal strength is measured precisely every 20 centimeters for up to 5 miles.

Polar Scans

Determined on the type and position of the antenna, the radio signal strength may vary significantly depending on the products orientation. This may result in “dead-spots” wherein product reliability suffers. It is important to measure this directionality to evaluate whether any redesign is required and what trade-offs may be involved. Polar Scans are run on the X, Y and Z axes.
